“A Youth Climate” Event was Held at OMU

"A Youth Climate" event was organized within the scope of "World Climate Day and Youth Week" with the contributions of Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Environmental Community, Environmental Problems Application and Research Center and Environmental Engineering Department.

The event held at OMU Faculty of Engineering; OMU Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Sevim Alışır, Samsun Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change Provincial Director Ömer Bolat, Samsun Metropolitan Municipality Environmental Protection and Control Department Head Ali Tulumen, OMÜ Engineering Faculty Dean Prof. Dr. Yıldıray Topçu, Environmental Problems Research and Application Center Director Prof. Dr. Nurdan Gamze Turan, Head of Environmental Engineering Department Prof. Dr. Feryal Akbal, academicians, non-governmental organizations, secondary school and undergraduate students participated.

Human activities are the cause of the climate crisis

Within the scope of the event, students of Samsun TAKEV Anatolian High School, Samsun Private İlkadım Final Science and Anatolian High School, Samsun İbrahim Tanrıverdi Social Sciences High School and Samsun Bahçeşehir College made their presentations in order to draw attention to the fact that the cause of the climate crisis is human activities and to raise awareness about this.

In the presentations made; The event was held in 5 sessions under the titles of 'Climate Change and its Effects', 'Sustainable Development Goals', 'Air Pollution and its Effects', 'Sustainable Water Management' and 'Waste Management'. Climate Crisis and Its Consequences, Deforestation, Carbon Footprint of Consumption, Sustainable Development Goals, Sustainable Development Goals Studies in Turkey, Relationship between Climate and Sustainable Development Goals, Emission Sources, Effect of Diesel Fuels on Air Pollution, Renewable Energy, Water Pollution, Water in Turkey and the World Topics such as "Situation, Water Footprint, Plastic Pollution, Circular Economy and Digital Waste" were discussed.

The works carried out in the Carbon Footprint Workshop, Terrarium Making Workshop, Compost Soil Workshop, Soilless Lettuce Production Workshop, Recycling and Upcycling Workshop and Digital Cleaning Workshop were presented to the participants all day.
