Ondokuz Mayıs University attaches importance to the conscious consumption and management of water, with the awareness of the sustainable use of water resources and the importance of green development. However, our university has a high need for drinking and potable water due to its large campus, widespread recreation areas and high number of staff and students. Ondokuz Mayıs University supplies its drinking and utility water needs from Karakavuk Pond. Raw water taken from the pond is brought to the pumping center, and from the pumping center it is taken to the raw water tank. Raw water that will be subject to purification process enters the drinking and utility water treatment facility by gravity. The facility has a clean water reservoir with a volume of 1000 m3 in order to balance the purified water with the required water. Apart from the existing facility warehouse, there is a 5000 m3 volume warehouse fed by the facility warehouse that meets the needs of the upper campus. The quality of the water obtained from our University's Drinking and Domestic Water Treatment Facility is monitored within the scope of our Ministry of Health's Regulation on Water for Human Consumption.
2160 m3 of water per day is being treated in the Drinking and Domestic Water Treatment Facility since the beginning of the 2021-2022 academic year. Approximately 150 m3 of produced water per day is used in in-plant processes (backwashing, etc.). Approximately 2010 m3 of water is provided for use.
There is no wastewater treatment facility located and operated within Ondokuz Mayıs University. For this reason, the wastewater generated at our university is connected to the Samsun Metropolitan Municipality sewer line. Rainwater is also connected to this line via a surface flow system and is not collected separately.
