The Samsun Zero Waste Workshop was held under the theme “Waste and Wastage from Local to National Level”, coordinated by the Zero Waste Foundation and under the auspices of the Samsun Governorship. As one of the important stops of the Türkiye Zero Waste Workshops series, the program aimed to enable local dynamics to contribute to national environmental policies. The workshop, held at the Ondokuz Mayıs University Guesthouse, attracted great interest from public institutions, local governments, universities, non-governmental organizations, and private sector representatives.
The workshop was organized in cooperation with the Provincial Directorate of Environment, Urbanization and Climate Change, the Provincial Directorate of Agriculture and Forestry, Ondokuz Mayıs University, Samsun University, and Samsun Metropolitan Municipality. Topics such as waste management, sustainable environmental policies, efficient use of resources, and increasing environmental awareness were discussed comprehensively at 14 thematic tables.
Academics from the Department of Environmental Engineering and the ÇEVSAM unit of Ondokuz Mayıs University also actively took part in the organization and implementation processes of the program. Faculty members from the department moderated thematic sessions and contributed to the coordination of evaluations and exchange of ideas carried out at different tables.
