OMÜ ÇEVSAM’s Sapling Planting Event on 11 November National Afforestation Day

Within the scope of 11 November National Afforestation Day, a sapling planting event was held in the garden of Samsun Garip Zeycan Yıldırım Science High School by the Ondokuz Mayıs University Environmental Problems Research and Application Center (ÇEVSAM). Organized with the aim of raising environmental awareness, reinforcing love of nature among younger generations, and contributing to the increase of green spaces, the event attracted great interest.

During the event, students, under the guidance of their teachers, planted saplings and thus both gained hands-on experience of environmental protection culture and enjoyed the happiness of contributing to nature. The ÇEVSAM team also gave short briefings on the importance of afforestation for the ecosystem, the role of sapling planting in combating climate change, and issues related to sustainable environmental management.

The Director of the Environmental Problems Research and Application Center (ÇEVSAM), Prof. Dr. Nurdan Gamze TURAN, stated that the newly created green area in the school garden is an important step that will increase students’ environmental awareness and add value to the school community in terms of environmental consciousness for many years to come. It was noted that similar events and educational activities will continue in order to increase environmental awareness across all segments of society.
