'COP27 Evaluation Meeting' was held in Istanbul with the organization of Çevre TV and the contributions of Boğaziçi University Climate Change and Policies Application and Research Center.
At the evaluation meeting held in four sessions at Boğaziçi University Albert Long Hall Cultural Center; Climate issues were discussed by academics, public sector, business world and Non-Society Organizations representatives and university climate ambassadors.

Member Prof. Dr. Bülent Gülçubuk, Bursa Uludağ University Environmental Engineering Department Lecturer. Member – Sustainable Campus Coordinator Prof. Dr. Güray Salihoğlu, Ege University Faculty of Engineering, Bioengineering Department Lecturer. Member Prof. Dr. Nuri Azbar, Marmara University Sustainable Growth and Quality Management Head of Science Prof. Dr. Refika Bakoğlu and Ondokuz Mayıs University Climate Ambassador Batuhan Ateşli.
Participants made presentations on the Net Zero Tolerance Approach to Greenwashing, the Impact of the Industrial Sector on the Climate Crisis, and the Impact of Migration from Agriculture and Rural Affairs Due to Climate Change on Food Security.
Fossil fuels will be phased out
Environmental Problems Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. In his presentation, Yüksel Ardalı made evaluations under the topic title 'Net Zero Tolerance Approach Against Greenlaundering'. Prof. said that greenwashing has gained great momentum in recent years with the increasing race to be environmentally conscious among companies. Dr. Ardalı said, “In order to effectively combat greenwashing, net zero emission commitments need to be designed in the short, medium and long term. It is recommended that these institutions report annually. Many leaders argue that while aiming to phase out fossil fuels, they can focus on oil and gas resources in the short term. “The use of cheap carbon credits to offset emissions is not a viable net zero strategy.” he said.
