Within the scope of the “Women’s Touch in Agriculture Project – Sustainable Agriculture, Food Safety and Environmental Awareness Training Program,” organized by the TOBB Women Entrepreneurs Council and held at the Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry on 27–28 November 2025, Head of Department and Director of ÇEVSAM Prof. Dr. Nurdan Gamze TURAN, Prof. Dr. Feryal AKBAL, Prof. Dr. Ayşe KULEYİN, Prof. Dr. Burcu ÖZKARAOVA and ÇEVSAM Deputy Director Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya AYKAÇ ÖZEN delivered presentations related to their fields of expertise.
In the program,
- Prof. Dr. Nurdan Gamze TURAN gave a presentation on “Environmental Impacts of Agricultural Waste, Waste Management and Recycling in Villages,”
- Prof. Dr. Feryal AKBAL on “Turkey’s Water Potential, the Risk of Water Scarcity, Water Footprint and Agricultural Use,”
- Prof. Dr. Ayşe KULEYİN on “Environmental Pollution and Loss of Biodiversity,”
- Prof. Dr. Burcu ÖZKARAOVA on “Soil Health: Organic Matter, Erosion, Effects of Incorrect Fertilizer Use & Factors Affecting Groundwater Resources and Their Protection,”
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hülya AYKAÇ ÖZEN on “Global Warming, the EU Green Deal and Carbon Footprint.”
With these talks, they offered multidimensional evaluations on sustainable agriculture and environmental awareness.
Throughout the training program, women farmers showed great interest in the sessions, which covered both theoretical knowledge and practical recommendations. The sharing of producers’ own experiences during the question-and-answer sections contributed to the program progressing in a more interactive and efficient way. Enriched by the active participation of women farmers, this training activity was successfully completed with scientifically grounded presentations and mutual exchange of ideas.
