The interview titled "Sustainability and Circular Economy in Industry Webinar" organized by Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry took place online. The webinar was moderated by Ondokuz Mayıs University Environmental Engineering faculty member Prof. Dr. Yüksel Ardalı did it.

The conference, held online, started with the opening speech of Esma Deniz, Samsun Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry Deputy Director of External Relations. Salis Zeki Murzioğlu, chairman of the board of Samsun Chamber of Commerce and Industry, who attended the event, said, “We must adopt the circular economy model that will provide high efficiency in every sense of production service processes and serve sustainable development. As the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, we aim to strengthen our members in the competitive process by increasing their competence in digitalization. "We aim to further develop and advance the webinar technology that will serve the work of our members within the scope of Samsun Export Virtual Fair," he said.
“It is important to generate new ideas”
The program was moderated by Prof. Dr. Yüksel Ardalı pointed out that we are faced with global climate change, population growth and limited resource pressures, and that there is a new world order in which we are struggling with the Covid-19 epidemic. Ardalı stated that the circular economy model has been damaged by the economic crisis that is deepening due to the pandemic conditions and that it is important to produce new ideas to get out of this process environmentally.
Continuing his words with the following statements, Prof. Dr. Ardalı said, “The potential for circular economy practices on a national scale and cooperation opportunities between different sectors are important in achieving national development goals. "Instead of the linear economy model that we have all used so far, which we call take, use, throw away, circular economy business models, in which waste is evaluated as a resource and transformed into products that will bring economic benefit, have begun to develop and become widespread," he said.
One of the speakers, Prof. Dr. Nilgün Cılız mentioned that for circular economy and life cycle, general waste should be reduced at the source, its formation should be prevented, managed and clean production activities should be disseminated. Dr. Lecturer Member Özgür Özaydın also included the three-dimensional model of the circular economy in his presentation titled Considering the Circular Economy from a Holistic and Evolutionary Perspective.
Mehmet Emin Okutan, one of the founders of Dcube, talked about the circular economy, environment and social component, another dimension of the circular economy, and talked about how to transition to the circular economy process and the process of taking an active role in the cooperative. The last participant is Dr., who is the team leader of the Arçelik R&D Polymer and Chemical Technologies family. While Orkun Kaymakçı gave brief information about Arçelik; He explained that Arçelik, a global company, has 22 companies worldwide, 7 of which are located in Turkey and 15 of which are located in different parts of the world.
