Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMU) Environmental Problems Application and Research Center Director Prof. Dr. Yüksel Ardalı met with BIGG entrepreneurs at the Samsun Technopark organization.

It is no longer possible to solve problems within the borders of the country. Green deal strategy; It is a strategy that demonstrates the European Union's (EU) determination to combat problems related to climate change and environmental pollution. Why urgent green growth? Because, as a result of too much consumption, we consume more than 60 percent of the world's production capacity. If it continues like this, we will need 3 worlds by 2050. We produce a lot of waste and waste billions of tons of waste. Electronic waste corresponds to 625 billion dollars, and textile waste corresponds to 500 billion dollars. “We release too many emissions into the atmosphere and damage our resources.” said.

Distinctive qualities of a green entrepreneur

In his speech, Prof. talked about green entrepreneurship and entrepreneurs in this field. Dr. Ardalı continued: “Green entrepreneurship, in its most general definition, is the development and marketing of products and services that are considered environmentally safe. The main difference that distinguishes a green entrepreneur from a traditional entrepreneur is this: The green entrepreneur wants to create a business model that is economically profitable, environmentally friendly and creates social value. On the other hand, these people are environmentally friendly in their operations and growth strategies. In addition, they provide products and services to meet the needs of society and contribute to a better world and living spaces.”

**Content of the Green Deal

In the following parts of the interview, Prof. drew attention to the scope of the Green Deal and the BIGG project issues. Dr. Ardalı explains these issues as "Biodiversity" (Limited use of pesticides, increasing the number of pollinators and afforestation), "From Field to Table" (Sustainable agriculture and food production, reducing food waste), "Clean Energy" (Affordable and safe), "Sustainable Industry". ” (Environmentally friendly, sustainable industrial production), “Construction and Renovation” (Zero-emission and self-generating energy buildings), “Sustainable and Smart Transportation” (Rail and maritime transportation, low-emission vehicles, alternative green fuels), “Pollution Elimination ” (Environmental alternatives instead of hazardous chemicals, zero pollution).

Application conditions for BIGG projects

Stating that students enrolled in any associate, bachelor's, master's or doctoral program and those who have graduated from any associate, bachelor's, master's or doctoral program can apply to BIGG projects, Ardalı said: "Applicants who have previously received the Ministry of Industry and Technology Technopreneurship Capital Support or Scientific And Technological Research Council Of Turkey 1512 Must not have received support within the scope of the second phase of the Programme, and should not have been in the partnership structure of any business as of the preliminary application date.
